When building most places to live, surveyors are typically aware that it is not practical for each individual location to have their own power generator. And so with the construction of larger generators to power multiple places, the power needs to come from somewhere. The purpose of these power plants is to provide this need.
The way the plants get their own power mainly is by running a large amount of amount giant steam generators. Complex mechanisms work to be able to power the population's generators with their large structures. As with other generators, power plant generators are analog machines that run on steam. However, obviously an entire facility is needed in order to keep these well maintained, as any failure could result in a near-disaster for residential locations.
